We are able to keep our services affordable because we build packages around only those services you need. From time to time, circumstances dictate those additional charges may apply.

Charges that may be required of you, but not included in packages:

• Cremation Permit (cost varies by county of death)
• After-hours transfer from hospital or facility ($175)
• Adult removal where family member is over 250 lbs ($175)
• Private home transfer ($175 at any time – required for any home death)
• Federal Holiday Transport Fee ($200)
• Medical Examiner fees (signing, transport – varies by county if applicable)
• Mileage (None required as we serve a one county radius around Dane County)
• Certified Death Certificates ($20 for first copy, $3 for each additional
• Newspaper notice (not required by law - $25 per paper plus actual cost of
• obituary and to be paid ahead of time)
• Insurance Assignment/Paperwork filing fee ($150)
• Update: 
• Additional trips to Medical Examiners’ offices ($75/trip)
• Cemetery Burial/Committal ($175)

NEW! Multiple Payment Options - Cremation Society of Madison has a payment in full payment policy via our portal at the time of arrangements. However, we understand a family may still need help making that payment. So we do offer a third party payment option. Click here to apply for a short term loan to pay for services. Repayment time frames can range from 3   months to 6 months in length. But this option may give you a little more time to pay when an unexpected death occurs.

If approved, by Lilypay, those approved funds are paid directly to Cremation Society of Madison and payments are then paid to Lilypay in the future. **reminder fees may apply to that payment for this service with Lilypay and those fees are from Lilypay and NOT Cremation Society of Madison**

*Services provided outside of normal business hours (M-F 8am-4:30pm) will result in $ 175 additional fees. Transfer of deceased requiring more than two staff members (extraordinary location, environment or size of deceased) is additional $175. T19 or State of WI Burial Assistance eligibility is not guaranteed, and denial of application will result in out of-pocket expenses to family. Insurance assignments available for qualifying insurance policies, fee of $150 applies. No substitutions or deletions are allowed in package.
